“Witness the Power of Chinese Technology Enterprises!”
The 19th Asian Games, originally scheduled to be held from September 10 to 25 this year in Hangzhou, have been postponed to take place from September 23 to October 8, 2023. As the third Chinese city to host the Asian Games after Beijing and Guangzhou, Hangzhou is eager to showcase China’s innovative technological prowess. The application of various cutting-edge technologies such as robotics, artificial intelligence, and autonomous driving will significantly enhance people’s intelligent participation and viewing experience in the games.
Unmanned Retail & Unmanned Delivery
At the Hangzhou Asian Games logistics center exclusively designed and operated by YTO Express, YTO Express has developed a comprehensive event logistics management system. Inside the warehouse, various types of intelligent logistics equipment are deployed, including forklift AGVs, inventory drones, sorting robots, wearable exoskeleton devices, and unmanned sweeping vehicles, ensuring precise and efficient material circulation. This includes the deployment of unmanned delivery vehicles from multiple brands, including vehicles from companies like NEOLIX and XingShen Tech.
Within the Asian Games Village, several noticeable autonomous ice cream vending vehicles are available for cruising. All you need to do is touch the screen to select your flavor, and you can open the cabinet to retrieve your ice cream.
Unmanned Shuttle & RoboTaxi
The autonomous smart bus stationed at the Hangzhou Asian Games Village smoothly departs when you press the ‘Start Autonomous Driving’ button. While seated inside the bus, you won’t see a traditional driver’s seat, but the vehicle is equipped with a 30° 8-million-pixel camera that can perceive vehicles within a 600-meter range and pedestrians within a 300-meter range. It can automatically plan and execute evasion strategies. When passengers observe the surroundings through the windows, they can enjoy an interactive experience that blends the real and virtual worlds.
According to reports, in addition to the Asian Games Village, several host cities/regions have planned autonomous train routes to the competition venues. For instance, in the Qiantang District, the Intelligent Connected Bus Loop has been launched from the Metro Line 1 Xiaoshajiangbin Station to the Asian Games Roller Skating Center South, offering a 30-minute interval service with a 12-passenger capacity. Deqing has introduced autonomous minibusses from Suzhou King Long to transport passengers between the Deqing Sports Center and the Deqing Geographic Information Town Basketball Arena, two of the Asian Games competition venues. Shaoxing Baseball/Softball Sports and Culture Center has deployed autonomous minibusses to provide services in the surrounding areas for passengers.
In addition, the Asian Games Intelligent Driving Special Line also provides RoboTaxi services. Five intelligent driving vehicles delivered by Geely will offer intelligent driving shuttle experiences for various groups, including media reporters, athletes, and the general public attending the Hangzhou Asian Games. Passengers can make online reservations through the Jikey mini-program, App, or by scanning QR codes at designated stops.
Of note, these five intelligent driving vehicles on the special line feature exclusive vehicle wraps personally designed by artist Han Meilin. The design elements are drawn from five classic series: ‘Mountain and Water,’ ‘Flowers and Plants,’ ‘Heavenly Script,’ ‘Rhythm,’ and ‘Double Horses,’ showcasing the fusion of technology and art.
Unmanned Patrol Vehicle & Quadruped Patrol/Inspection Robot
It is reported that the intelligent patrol system for this Asian Games has been further upgraded, deploying various forms of unmanned patrol vehicles in competition venues and security areas of host cities.
As one of the sub-venues for this year’s Asian Games, Huzhou’s public security has also deployed a quadruped intelligent inspection robot named ‘Hakimi.’ It can follow police officers during patrols while simultaneously performing target detection and recognition. It can also autonomously navigate and plan routes according to programmed settings, allowing for independent 24-hour patrols. The robot is also used for security knowledge promotion and has been deployed within the Huzhou Olympic Sports Center venue.
In addition, to ensure the effective daily operation of power supply facilities during the event, State Grid Hangzhou Power Supply Company has deployed intelligent inspection robot dogs in equipment hazard identification and enhancement work. These robot dogs conduct real-time, three-dimensional ‘diagnosis’ of tunnel environments and cable equipment.
Unmanned Sweeper & disinfection Cleaning Robot
In the field of cleaning and sanitation, to enhance the technological aspects of this year’s Asian Games, Hangzhou city and co-host cities have introduced unmanned sweepers and cleaning robots, offering services at the competition venues, their surroundings, airports, and other areas.
Welcome Service Robots
To provide participants and visitors with a more convenient guide and various services, welcoming service robots are also a standard feature of this year’s Asian Games.
Furthermore, in the intelligent experience area of the Asian Games Village, there is a humanoid robot named ‘Xiaole’ and a ‘Technology Band’ consisting of three dancing robot dogs, performing live music.
Conclusion
As more and more international sporting events are held in China, what is showcased to people around the world is not only the strength of Chinese athletes in the arena but also China’s capabilities in intelligent manufacturing around the competition. We look forward to the upcoming Asian Games, where we anticipate Chinese companies to deliver outstanding performances, demonstrating that our country’s technology industry has accelerated and achieved new breakthroughs.
