Galaxy Robot plans to launch its first-generation humanoid robot in 2024
Recently, Beijing Galaxy General Robot Co., Ltd. (referred to as Galaxy Robot) successfully completed a multi-million yuan angel plus round of financing, attracting strategic investors and multiple investment institutions. Among them, Meituan strategically led the investment through Hanhai Information Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (Dazhongdianping), with follow-up investments from institutions such as Peking University Yan Yuan Venture Capital, Tsinghua SEE Fund, IDG Capital, and others.
Galaxy Robot, established in June 2023 with a registered capital of only 180,000 yuan, has Co-founder Wang He, who is an Assistant Professor and Ph.D. supervisor at Peking University’s Center for Frontiers of Computing, as well as the Head of the Human-like Model Department at the Beijing Wisdom Source Artificial Intelligence Research Institute.
Before Meituan’s investment, Galaxy Robot had already successfully completed an angel round of financing with participation from BlueRun Ventures, Source Code Capital, Matrix, iFlytek, and SenseTime.
It is understood that Galaxy Robot is currently developing a product with dual arms and wheels, planning to launch the first-generation humanoid robot in 2024 for deployment in retail scenarios such as pharmacies and supermarkets. In 2026, there are plans to enhance the robot’s performance for mass sales and production.
With the advent of the era of generative AI, a new competition regarding humanoid robots has begun. In order to explore more opportunities for the collaborative development of the humanoid robot industry chain and support the development of a new model for the Chinese humanoid robot industry, efforts are being made to accelerate the practical application of the Chinese humanoid robot industry. On December 14th, at the “2023 China Mobile Robot (AGV/AMR) Industry Development Annual Conference” hosted by the CMR Industry Alliance, the “2023 (Shenzhen) Bipedal/Humanoid Robot Ecological Summit” will be held concurrently. Representatives from companies in the bipedal/humanoid robot industry chain will gather to discuss the latest technologies and development trends in bipedal/humanoid robots.
